=== Anti Spam Feature ===
Some DSL routers have an anti spam feature which prevents sending emails from home. You may need to deactivate this setting or add our mail server as another exception.

Mail server

Our mail server provides access via IMAP/TLS, IMAPS, POP3/TLS, POP3S, SMTPS and SUBMISSION:

mail.coli.uni-saarland.de

We recommend using IMAP.

VPN is not needed to access the mail server.

IMAP / POP3

Activate SSL or TLS for IMAP and POP3.

  • IMAP: SSL (Port 993) or TLS (Port 143)
  • POP3: SSL (Port 995) or TLS (Port 110)

Outgoing Mail Server, SMTP

  • Activate SSL (Port 465) or TLS (Port 587). In AppleMail, check "SSL" and specify port 465 or 587 explicitly.

  • Activate authentication via user name and password.

Webmail

There exists a webmail interface for accessing your emails and configuring your email forwards and filters.

  • Open a web broswer (e.g. Firefox, Safari, Konqueror, ...). Visit our new webmail interface running Squirrelmail: https://webmail.coli.uni-saarland.de

  • Log in using your username and password. You need to have browser cookies activated for Squirrelmail to work properly.

You can comfortably check your emails while away from our department, e.g. at home or on a conference. If you do, please make sure that the computer you use for accessing webmail is trustworthy.
