Since 2009 EACL workshops proposals have been solicited and handled in conjunction with the other major conferences in the same year (e.g. ACL and EMNLP in 2014) as part of a joint call and joint selection process. This has created some tension for EACL, since it is typically the first conference of the year and so would require earlier deadlines than the other conferences if dealt with independently.
